Residential Demolition Process

Prior to demolition it is paramount that a demolition permit is obtained. You can obtain a permit from your local council, selected builder or a local private certifier. The next step is to contact your power provider to disconnect your electricity and tell them it’s a demolition cancellation as they may need to remove fixtures from the site. Leave the water as we may need to access this during the demolition process. You also need to ensure you cancel or redirect your mail.

The average home demolition usually takes between 3-5 days to clear. At Allcoast Group our highly experienced team work from the roof down. We begin by hand stripping out all salvage materials, our commitment to sustainable practices is very important to us, that’s why we aim to recycle 80% of materials. An excavator is used to remove the concrete slab and footings and scour the ground for any concealed obstructions and loose materials. The ground is then ‘track rolled’ leaving the site clear and complete.

That’s why we make every effort to reduce waste, salvage usable materials and recycle where we can. Many of the older homes we demolish contain materials like hardwood, bricks, concrete, metal and roof tiles that can be reused or repurposed rather than sent to landfill. Our commitment to sustainability is not just about following regulations—it’s about doing the right thing for the community we live and work in. We also dispose of hazardous materials like asbestos in full compliance with EPA guidelines, giving you peace of mind that your site has been cleared properly and professionally.

No need to worry about disconnecting your water. We use this as a part of our demolition process to ensure we keep a safe environment for all those working at the site and any neighbours surrounding.
